Food for Kids makes a difference in the lives of impoverished children by providing kids identified by teachers, counselors, and school nurses with discrete backpacks, filled with nutritious, child-friendly foods to utilize on weekends and holidays when other resources – such as school breakfast and lunch programs – aren’t available. The program is designed to meet the needs of children who rely on these resources as their only, or only reliable, source of food. With a monthly pledge of just $20, you can sponsor a child! Yes, that’s enough to fill a backpack, every week, and ensure that one less child is left to struggle with the effects of childhood hunger. You can also become a Backpack Buddy with a one-time donation of $200.

All school age children have one thing in common: the ever present backpack. For most kids, a backpack contains books and other school supplies. For children participating in the Food for Kids program, a backpack means much more – it means a weekend with a full stomach. It means, their mind can concentrate on education, and their body can concern itself with healthy growth; rather than worrying about their next meal, and feeling the pains of hunger.
